Little Green Fingers Summer Holiday Success

1 September 2016

As the holidays draw to a close, we are reflecting on the fantastic summer we have had here at Pugh's with our four themed weeks of Summer Holiday Little Green Fingers Fun and Frolics!

The first Fairy Tale Week was truly magical and our Little Green Fingers made some fantastic fairy gardens. We hope you have had some visitors since putting them in your gardens! We heard that this workshop was a "Fab day all round. The girls loved it and so did us mums!" Fairy folk finished the day by going on a hunt around the garden centre to find some cheeky elves who were hiding in our different departments.

Next our Woodland Lodge hosted the Butterfly Ball as part of the annual Big Butterfly Count! Children danced and flew their way through our doors to get art-and-craft-sy creating beautiful butterflies on willow sticks before then going on a hunt around our plants to find butterflies and learn some interesting facts along the way! We had a fantastic review of this event by bloggers Twin Mummy and Daddy which can be read here.

Things went wild next with our Really Wild Week! The lodge transformed into a jungle and our friends from Dragon Reptiles kindly brought over some creepy crawlies, wicked reptiles and slithery, slimy snakes for a hands on learning experience! We also made snake masks and went on a slither trail around the outdoor plants to learn some facts about snakes from around the world.

Finally it was Flower Power Week! We made some Butastic Bloomin' Bugs out of flowers and other materials meaning your little green fingers went home with a brand new flower arranging skill! After this you took your wacky winged creations on a learning journey around the garden centre matching bugs to flowers. Even Dads, Mums, Nans and other folks got involved in this activity to help the children create their own unique bugs. One Mum even said it had been the best workshop yet and another commented that the floral craft had got her young son totally captivated. Praise indeed!

A big thank you to everybody who attended our Summer Little Green Fingers Workshops and subsequently left us great reviews! We love nothing more than educating future green fingers generations whilst providing fun, hands-on outdoors activities, it is our favourite thing :)

Keep your eyes peeled for announcements coming soon for our Autumn, Halloween and Christmas workshops! We can't wait!
