Full Time Indoor Products Manager (Wenvoe)

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and loyal Pugh's family of staff in our vibrant and popular, Award-Winning Pugh's Garden Centre in Wenvoe (located in the Vale of Glamorgan on Port Road, CF5 6AD)

Indoor Products Manager – responsible for Indoor Lifestyle, Gifts, Houseplants, and Christmas departments / teams

Salary between £27,000 - £30,000 depending on experience

To be successful, we'd like you to show us that you have:

  • Previous retail management experience – Have a passion and enthusiasm for our products
  • Visual merchandising skill an advantage but not essential as training will be given
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Ability to work in conjunction with the Visual Merchandiser Manager for the ranging and buying of the departments that will meet the customers and business expectations and trends set for the seasonal changes
  • The ability to understand and analyse sales figures to enable the departments to trade within the company parameters to maximise all commercial opportunities and deliver profit targets set
  • The ability and passion to complete regular computer-based training to ensure exceptional product knowledge and adhere to our business policies for staff wellbeing, staff training and Health and Safety policies

As our Indoor Products Manager you will:

  • Work in partnership with your peers to support the day-to-day operational processes, and working values / flexible culture of Pughs
  • Motivate staff working in your areas to maximise their potential and to promote a positive work environment – communicating plans with staff and encouraging their contribution to the planning process, delegating and training, reviewing, recruiting, and disciplining as necessary (Liaising with HR as required)
  • Lead by example to help keep the team positive and enthusiastic - guide your store teams to ensure everyone provides an excellent customer experience during every interaction
  • Oversee staff rotas alongside other managers to make sure the shop always has the correct loading in order to give excellent customer service and then passing the rota’s upstairs to HR for signing off
  • Daily allocation of staff to product zones with a clear work plan
  • Achieve the agreed KPI’s – including sales, margins, stock turn and stock holding, service targets etc
  • Research new trends and products to make sure the department is innovative and attractive to all ages / types of customers
  • Develop layout and flow, ranges, categories, linked products and merchandising, signage and POS to help customers navigate to and purchase the right products for their needs / desires
  • Oversee the day-to-day replenishment orders and stock control
  • Work closely with Senior management, and other managers, to make sure policies, plans, and procedures are communicated to all staff
  • Work opposite weekends to the outdoor product manager on a 6 and 4 basis.
  • Liaise with managers and staff to necessary business operations run smoothly (e.g. Reception, tills, opening / closing procedures etc)
